Worship Support

Worship is central to our life at Trinity Parish. Our worship is supported a number of ministries involving parishioners. They exist to make those who come to our churches feel welcome and to help make the liturgy as beautiful and meaningful as possible.

Following are brief descriptions of the many ministries that are part of our worship services. If you would like to serve in one of our worship ministries, please contact the office.

Acolytes and Crucifers

Youth age 12 and over assist the priest by lighting candles, carrying the cross and serving the altar. Acolytes and Crucifers serve about once a month.

Chalice Bearers

At all services of the Holy Eucharist on Sundays and at other special celebrations, chalice bearers assist the clergy by distributing the wine at Communion. Trained by the rector and licensed by the Diocese of Delaware to assist in serving communion during worship. Chalice Bearers serve about once each six weeks.

Lectors & Intercessors

Lectors and intercessors read scripture and prayers during worship services, and are scheduled to read about once each 6 weeks.

Ushers

Greeting visitors and assisting with seating on Sunday mornings, they hand out leaflets, take up the offering, bring forward the communion elements and assist communicants. They work in teams under the direction of a head usher and serve once each five weeks.

Choirs

Adult Choir

Leading worship through music and song, the choir serves at the 10:30 am service from mid-September through mid-June. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Youth Choir

A Junior Choir of children ages 7 to 14 rehearses after the 10:30 service each Sunday and sings in the service several times each year.

For more information or to get involved, please visit the Music & Drama page.

Altar Guild

Members of the Altar Guild prepare the settings for worship, including setting the altar for the Eucharist, keeping the holy vessels clean and safe, and maintaining the hangings that drape the pulpit at each service.  They work in teams and serve once each month.

Flower Guild

The Flower Guild is a group of arrangers who prepare the altar flowers for Trinity church and chapel. All volunteers, the arrangers work solo or in pairs throughout the year. For Christmas, the Greens Workshop produces many wonderful arrangements, and the Flower Guild supplements these with designs for the altars and font. For Easter, the arrangers create a display that connotes the spring-time resurrection of the earth, which is a reflection of the resurrection of the Christ. For more information, call Ashlin Bray through the Church office.

Welcome Ministries

Coffee Hour Refreshments

Members sign up to bring light pastries for all to share at coffee hour after worship services.

Greeters

Two greeters serve each Sunday to greet everyone but pay special attention to those who are new to the parish. Newcomers are welcomed and given as much assistance as they need before and after the service. Greeters serve about six times a year.

Newcomers Committee

This committee helps visitors increase comfort with and deepen their knowledge of Trinity Parish. Members reach out to everyone who completes a visitor's card and hosts a dinner at the conclusion of each Newcomers Class for participants and staff.
